Step 1: Develop and Scale 4 New Traction Channels for My Core Writing Business

My core writing business is personal essays about Mental Health and Self Improvement.

I stole the term “Traction Channel” from the book Traction. Basically, a traction channel is a way to find customers. Some types of Traction Channels are Existing Platforms, SEO, PR, Targeting Blogs/Podcasts, Advertising, Content Marketing, Email Marketing, Search Engine Marketing, Business Development, Offline Events, etc — there are 19 types mentioned in the book.

The idea is to develop simple experiments to find the best Traction Channel for you. What makes a good Traction Channel? Return on Investment. Marketing takes time and money. Those are limited resources. The best Traction Channel is the one that returns the most incremental revenue in the least amount of time.
