Mindset #1: You Have the Power to Act

Between stimulus, the things that happen to us, and response, what we do about them, there is a space.

Because we’re endowed with that space, we’re made responsible. Response-able. Able to respond. That’s what responsibility means.

This is one of the problems with the way we think about Mental Health issues like Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, etc. today.

We seem to be under the impression that, because they are legitimate illnesses (which they are), that we’re powerless over them. That’s the point that I take issue with now.

I used to believe it. I used to think that I was at the mercy of my mental illnesses. I’d say things like, “I can’t do that because of my anxiety,” or “My PTSD makes…
