Use These Prompt Questions & Journaling Exercise to Optimize Your Lifestyle Design for Wellness and Balance.

I stole Dr. Peggy Swarbrick’s 8-Dimensions of Wellness Model, broke each dimension into 4 subdomains, and identified 4 (or more) reflection questions for each.

I use these questions as prompts for a journaling exercise.

  1. For each of the 8-Dimensions, I review the reflection questions and write a sentence or two responses to each to get the juices flowing.
  2. Then, for each of the 8-Dimensions, I journal for 10 minutes or so about how I’ve performed in this dimension in the past, how I’m doing currently and what I’d like to change in that dimension in the future.
  3. I take all the answers about the future, polish and codify them into what I call a Mission Statement, which is basically a statement of my values in each of the 8-Dimensions of life.
  4. Voila! Holistic Lifestyle Design, optimized for wellness. The whole process takes about 8 hours the first time and half that on every subsequent revision. I try to do that annually.
